COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER P/T
DUTIES INCLUDE:
* To assist the manager to address the low health status of
Travellers’ in the county, focusing in particular on issues of
within Social Determinants of Health .
* In association with the Primary Healthcare Team, identify the
mental health needs of Travellers in County Sligo. Establish links
with appropriate service providers to address these needs. Play an
active role in the planning, organising and implementation of required
programmes operated by STSG aimed at addressing such needs.
* Network within and across the Traveller community of County Sligo
including where appropriate home visits. The home visit STSG protocol
is to be always followed when conducting home visits.
* Facilitate dialogue and communication between service providers
and the members of local Traveller community impacted by poor health.
Work to ensure that the health information being disseminated locally
is correctt, consistent and appropriate for the client.
* Work closely with HSE personnel and departments, including the
Designated Public Health Nurse for Travellers, as well as other
relevant agencies.
* To participate in relevant training to develop the post as
requested by STSG.
* Cooperate and engage with statutory and voluntary / community
services in the delivery of services to the Traveller community.
* Develop and implement Health initiatives based on needs
identified.
